2 November 1996 DUCKIE IS ONE Leif Harmsen On Saturday the second of November, 1996 Duckie had its first birthday party at St. Andrew's Church, Vauxhall. The evening, attended by 1,500 celebrities was a terrific success. Performances by the Divine David, Jeremy Robins (Slippery When Wet) and Hellen Paris (Once, Twice, Three Times a Lady Shaver) highlighted an evening of dancing to the best tunes of all time courtesy of the Reader's Wifes. The thrilling 18th Century gothic stone interior of the Christian temple was appreciated by all. There was a great deal of social mingling, plenty of party favours and much hugging and kissing. The regular Sunday church service resumed the following morning and not a thing was out of place - so commendable was the clean-up crew.
