Monday 7 - Wednesday 16 July 2014
BAC & RVT, 10am – 6pm
Are you aged 18 – 25?
Do you like live art, cabaret, DIY culture and post-queerness?
Do you want to be part of the next generation of underground performance talent?
Duckie is launching it’s emerging artists programme called ‘The Youth Club’ with an 8 day intensive performance and cabaret Summer School with director Mark Whitelaw and filmmaker Tim Brunsden and input from showbusiness mentor Amy Lamé.
We will recruit 14 participants aged 18 – 25 and armed with the 150 year archive of the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, will create stunning ensemble performance for a short show to be presented at the RVT on Wednesday 16 July.
New performers are discovered and queer history is uncovered in this 8 day full time workshop programme and showcase. Forms investigated include a combination of performance art, popular cabaret, ensemble movement and drag.
Director Mark Whitelaw has directed all five of Duckie's major commissions for the Barbican Theatre.
Participants will devise for 8 days full time and will be based at the Battersea Arts Centre in Clapham Junction.
Applications for this programme are now closed.
This project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
